The campus had some interesting visitors this week- in the shape of a swarm of honey bees.

Mr Mellor, a local beekeeper came to the rescue and removed the bees.

When a hive gets to big and overcrowded a Queen bee will fly away with thousands of followers. These then settle down and surround the queen, protecting her.

These honey bees are protected under law and we would neither want to or are allowed to kill them. Mr Mellor was happy to come and remove the bees. They will then be put in one of his spare hives and happily build up a hive of over 10,000 bees!

He successfully removed them with only a few stings and has promised jars of Stockport Campus Bee honey! Now, that is certain to taste world class!

Sorry to say it resulted in some of the most appalling bee jokes

“What does a bee use to brush its hair?” “ A honeycomb!”

“To bee or not to bee”.

“What do you call a bee that can’t stop eating?” “Chubee”.

“How many bees are needed for a choir?” *A Humdred”

“What kind of bee can’t you understand?” “A mumble bee”.

“What kind of bee lives in America?” “A USB”.

I will stop here!
