14.48 Well we are now packing up and getting the laptops back so good bye and what a day!

Leroy 10- couldnt have been better

Carys 9 bit more teacher interaction with students

Carter 9 Just the slight issue of distrations stopped it hitting 10

On to English

Koren 8 A day with lots of potential becasue it was a one off and being more regular would be better

Angus 8 most lessons were fine but resources were not always as they were meant ot be. Planning by myself could have been better

Brittany 8 could have followed her own success criteria more strictly

Armand 9 enjoyed it but could have got more by strucuturing more variety into it

rate out of 10 Eloise 8 liked the choice but can strucutre her day better

14.35 Let’s start a round up of the day

14.34 And so the Year 9s desatroy another tree in the aid of a display!

14.30 Year 11s are working on the Battle of the Somme- impressive indeed

14.04

The MFL WWW and EBI tree! Wunderbar!!!

14.03

Just come out of MFL- Leroy -amazing or should I say la amazing!

13.53- want the students say:-

EBI “Could have had more resources”

WWW “Good for revision”

WWW “Were able to work with others”

EBI “Students need better preeration”

WWW “Helps us for business life”

EBI “If teachers could have interacted more”

WWW “Gives us a choice of different lessons”

13.49 An it continues with no letting lose of the objectives, every student spoken to has been clear as to what they need to do and how they will achieve their goals

13.47 SDL is a method of school development and not the method. We say this becasue it depends on a few vital ngredients. We have 156 of such vital ingredients at Stockport!

13.24 Francesca shares her thoughts- or not with the rest of the school.

12.46 Some overviews from the girls

Ainsley and Elisa

Carlie and Emilia

12.34 And so the morning draws to an end- I will be interviewing some students over lunch- keep posted

12.23 Well I have done the rounds again and here are a few quotes

Harry ” It’s a free and exciting day. I have met all my objectives”.

Nathan” Work at your own pace, but your targets keep this tight and purposeful”.

Leon “A brillinat day, able to complete all those things that have been left undone”.

Fergus ” Great, brilliant! I like being able to choose things I want and get to do things in a different way”.

Jacob ” Found the day great. The technology has really helped. Making up to complete all the work I have not been successful with – I have control!”

Drew “A profitable day. Gives you variety and breaks down routine”.

11.54 I thought now would be a good time to get the views of teachers- very interesting indeed.

11.44 Not all students enjoy school and some have found it more of a challenge than others. Wyatt was good enough and clear enough to explain how he sees this as the future for him

So let’s get some more images

11.24 Wallace and Carter give me their take on the day- maybe the last question was a little leading!

Let’s hear from Almanzo in textiles

11.12 I don’t think the day could have gone better and the feedback from the students is really positive.

Time for this aged Head to get a coffee!

And the view from science

10.35 Break time- quick update of the morning from Greg and Emilia

10.21 I really like the idea of students across a range of age groups in the same space and working at stage not age!

10.17 I have some of the first WWW and EBI input from the first session – see what you think

9.55 and some more insightful comments from upper 6th students about motivation and drive

Essentially it’s all about accountabilty and setting clear goals that have to be met.

9.56 Well that was an interesting chat with students studying EPQs. They discuss how you can build in accountability to ensure rigour and pace

9.37 -off again…. where to?

9.35 – I will be 7lbs lighter by the end of the day! Just run back up from the SDL centre- who says you need a centre for SDL to take place! Listen to this group of girls from Y6 up to Year 10

I will be going around all of the classes and we hope you get a real flavour of what today is about- if you thought as a teacher SDL would make your life easier think again! It’s great fun, exciting but not easy!

9.16 Some picture updates

9.11 And things are underway. Just spoken to a number of students in English see what you think! (sorry about the sound quality- carrying a laptop and doing this is not easy!)

8.48 now and tutor time- last minute thoughts and words of what success will look like

8.26 Kristy, Jessie and Reagan give their views of what the day should be like

7.59 Students begin to arrive

7.38 New laptops for Y9-11 already sorted and ready- don’t forget students these are for today only and will be issued properly to everyone in the new year.

6.47 and Mr Wilson on his second black coffee of the day. Excited -looking into the Stockport darkness- so buses yet!

6.16am Good morning everyone. Just a few hours before the day starts. Laptops are all charged and ready to go- let’s hope the students are fully charged and currently gulping down their porridge!

Welcome to another Super Learning Day (SLD)

This is going to be a really special one that focuses on how we as a school have

  • truly adopted SDL across the school
  • are SDL ready
  • have adopted and adapted technologies to fit this need

Listen to Mr Bourne and Mr Wilson at a planning meeting to get a flavour of what we are doing

Merryl and Danita met with Mr Wilson to go over their plans for the day
